Efficient broadcast authentication scheme in clustering sensor networks

Broadcasting is an important method of communication in wireless sensor network and the security of broadcast message should be satisfied.This paper proposed a broadcast authentication scheme for wireless sensor networks using clustering structure, only cluster heads performed the expensive signature verification and broadcasted the message in cluster with MAC, normal nodes in the cluster checked the MAC using hash function and the gateway nodes in the cluster broadcasted the message to neighbor cluster heads located in their communication range. Compared with existing broadcast authentication schemes, the proposed scheme achieves high performance of security with lower energy cost.
