Surface processing based on curvature-domain energy optimization methods
|
Abstract:
Curvature plays a crucial role in geometry processing. This paper proposed a method based on curvature-domain for 3D geometry processing. The method provided a geometry tool to facilitate shape editing, filtering, and synthesis. For a given surface, through evaluating its principle curvatures, filtering and editing the curvature distribution, constructed the mapping to the curvature domain. The energy optimization solved a nonlinear least-squares problem to find the surface that best matched the desired target curvatures while preserving important properties of the original shape. The experimental results show that the effectiveness of the method with processing of anisotropic smoothing, feature enhancement, and multi-scale curvature editing.
