Large social event oriented freeway network control strategy simulation evaluation approach
|
Abstract:
In order to release freeway congestion caused by large social events, this paper presented a control strategy simulation evaluation approach based on macroscopic traffic simulation, providing a support to traffic control and management. This approach used network traffic flow simulation model to investigate and evaluate candidate control strategies, and recommend optimal strategy. Used GANFreSP simulation tool to depict occurrence, propagation, and dissolving of congestion in a simulated freeway network, and simulated the effects of route guidance strategy, and presented traffic state trajectories, snapshots of global network state, and overall performance indexes. Research results show that local congestion always evolves into network-level traffic collapse, and appropriate control of freeway network is necessary to improve the operational efficiency of the network.
