De-interlacing algorithm for DIBR

Abstract:
A de-interlacing algorithm for DIBR is proposed. The algorithm first performs de-interlacing on an interlaced reference image and its depth image by an intra-field interpolation algorithm based on direction. The interpolation algorithm works well in eliminating jagged effect by adaptively selecting the direction of interpolation. Then, 3D image warping is applied to the progressive reference image and its depth image to generate a progressive destination image. Experiment results show that the proposed de-interlacing algorithm can provide progressive novel views with quite good image quality, and the performance is robust. The algorithm adapts to the de-interlacing of DIBR-based 3D video.
