Research on optimal cluster-head number of LEACH routing protocol for WSN
|
Abstract:
Cluster-based LEACH routing protocol had good adaptability for large-scale wireless sensor networks. More or less cluster heads were selected without taking into account the number of cluster heads during the cluster forming process in network. So these nodes had to consume additional energy because of data fusing or the long distance of data transmission and consequently reduced the network life-span. This paper proposed a new cluster-heads selection algorithm to improve the network performance by controlling the number of cluster heads in an area. The simulation experiment indicates that this optimal algorithm extended the network life-span and reduced the average energy consumption in network.
