Research of end-to-end admission control schemes on IP networks

Abstract:
Admission control determines whether a new arriving flow can be admitted into networks and how bandwidth and latency are allocated to streams with various requirements. Excellent admission control schemes improve the networks utility as while as they provide guaranteed QoS, and reduce the cost. This paper firstly introduced the basic concepts and significance of admission control briefly. It then categorized and summarized the existing admission control schemes, and presented them in detail. After that, it gave a thorough analysis on their performance and problems need to be improved. At the end, it discussed about challenges which admission control was facing and its future development.
