Dynamic simulation of large-scale grassland in wind

Abstract:
Grass is one of the nature elements, due to its large number and wide covering range, the dynamic simulation of large-scale grassland in real-time is difficult. In view of the deficiency of the existing methods, this paper proposed a method for dynamic simulation of large-scale grassland in wind. Constructed large-scale static grassland based on hybrid representation. Established wind field model by two-dimensional vector. According to the distance from the viewer, simulated the deformation of grass by mixed-kinetic equation and moving the top vertexes of billboard. Experiments show that this method not only can realistically render the animated grass scenes under wind, but also can support the variable wind field.
