Detection and tracking of prohibition signs in highway

This paper described a method for prohibition signs detection and tracking through the specific color and shape of the prohibition signs in highway. The method of combining color and shape was adopted to detect signs. The first step was to convert the RGB space to HSV space and then extracted red color using the method of syncretizing hue and saturation.The second step was to detect circle through the improved method of extracting area feature parameters and located the prohibition signs. It introduced an improved Kalman filter to track multiple targets in the following-up frames. Experiments with captured videos had good effect on detection and tracking.The result shows that the method can detect the prohibition signs accurately and quickly.
