Study of infrared weak small target enhancement methods based on image fusion

Abstract:
This paper presented an infrared weak small target enhancement method based on image fusion.The structure of this method was two times fusion. In first fusion stage,used the simple image fusion method to fuse the continuous frames. In this stage reduced the computational quantity and suppressed the random noise.In second fusion stage,used the multiscale decomposition method to decompose the result from first fusion stage. Fused the low frequency part and high frequency parts from decomposition according to different fusion rules.Contrasted the fusion effect with different multiscale decomposition methods such as wavelet transform, contourlet transform and nonsubsampled contourlet transform.The experimental results show that the method is correct and can enhance infrared weak small targets effectively.
