Event-driven Web server architecture based on QoS control
|
Abstract:
The perform of Web servers played a key role in satisfying the needs of a large and growing community of Web users, but Web servers met many challenges such as highly concurrent requests, different QoS requirements and admission control. This paper presented a new portable event-driven Web server architecture providing differentiated services to clients with different QoS requirements in order to solve above challenges, and evaluated the performance of an implementation of this architecture, the Epdds Web server. The performance of Epdds was compared with two widely-used Web servers, Apache and Zeus. Results indicate that Epdds can match or exceed the performance of existing Web servers by up to 10% across a wide range of workloads. The results show the feasibility and profitability of this architecture.
