Adaptive image compression algorithm for voyage data recorders
VDR图像自适应压缩算法的研究

In accordance with the requirement of image compression for voyage data recorder(VDR), this paper analyzed the gray richness and smoothness of image firstly. Then constructed the relationship and the mathematics model among the gray richness, the gray smoothness, compression rate and compression quality based on the characteristic of ZIP and JPEG compression arithmetic. Presented the essential compression algorithm that could be selected based on the gray richness. The compress quality parameter could be obtained according to the gray smoothness in order to get the fixation compression rate. This algorithm can compress the VDR images self-adaptivly well.
