This paper addressed the problems by putting forward a novel index structure,called a hybrid XML index compo-sing structure-encoded with cluster(HiSC for brief).This method was based on identifying characteristics of elements.Through the characteristics,the elements area classified and clustered.Using the index,the numbers of elements retrieved area minimized.The search results with pertinent format provided more structure information.The index supported search.Experiment results indicate the index has significantly efficiency with high precision.
