Improved handover mechanism based on adaptive business for LTE networks

Abstract:
According to the features of adaptive business, the proposed mechanism improved handover performance by introducing two handover triggers for receiving less delay and higher data rate. The handover mechanism was improved from the following three aspects: measurement control, handover decision and handover execution. Firstly, the source eNodeB reduced the measurement range by using a neighbor eNodeB list. Secondly,made the handover decisione based on the results of analytic hierarchy process, which calculated multiple parameters into one decision. Finally, UE executed random access procedures to the target eNodeB while it maintained the connection to the source eNodeB simultaneously. Compared to the handover algorithms defined by 3GPP, the simulation results illustrate that the proposed method achieves less delay, higher data rate, higher handover efficiency, and better utilization of network resources.
