Study on Stochastic Programming Model of Empty Container Allocation

Abstract:
Through the careful analysis on the empty container allocation process,the uncertainty of the residual capacity for empty containers is introduced based on the uncertainty of container demand and a stochastic programming model is established concerning on the limitation of the balance of supply and demand and the uncertainty of container demand and the residual capacity for empty containers on the ship.Then the chance-constrained programming method is proposed to solve the model.Finally the simulation results show the internal rule reflecting the influence of transportation cost,rent cost,holding cost and the uncertainty of the residual capacity for empty containers on the policy of empty container allocation.
