Analyzed problems and causes of CMM implementation in the different software life cycle models, and put forth the primary solution. Projects using iterative life cycle models were difficult to satisfy the requirement of requirement management process area. Suggestion was to extend the meaning of baseline, divide the requirement to several parts, to each part, establish baseline many times during the iteration. Software product engineering process area mainly focused on waterfall model and had little content about iterative life cycle models. Projects using iterative life cycle models should not be restricted within the content of CMM. Suggestion was to map the work product of CMM and iterative life cycle models, and use the method and concept of iterative life cycle models as alternative practices to satisfy software product engineering process area.
