Performance Optimization of Internet Access in GPRS/UMTS Networks
|
Abstract:
A proxy-based framework for Internet access through GPRS/UMTS networks is proposed.A flow-level scheduling scheme called Delay Block(DB) is studied within this framework.By exploiting the relative delay tolerance of data service,DB scheme can reduce average response time of users without any additional bandwidth. Two algorithms, the optimal channel allocation algorithm and the adaptive channel allocation algorithm, are developed to managing the wireless resource.Analysis results and simulations show that the new framework and algorithms improve the average response time greatly while keeping network working efficiently.
