Merge and Separate Plus SAR IP Packets Processing Method with QoS Support
|
Abstract:
The popular solution toward variable-length-distribution IP packets in the non-ATM network node, uses a method similar to Segmentation And Reassembly (SAR). In this paper, it is analyzed and pointed out that the low-bandwidth-usage method is not suitable for high speed network node realization. To improve processing-bandwidth usage, a new fixed-size processing method, Merge And Separate plus SAR (MAS+), is presented. In this new method, the packets with same input and output port addresses, smaller than 1 500 bytes are merged, and the packets larger than 1 500 bytes are segmented. And, the analysis and computer simulations of improvement and latency are also given.
