Network processor is a kind of programmable processor combining the flexibility of software and the high perfor-mance of hardware.This paper analyses some of the buffer management and packet scheduling algorithms,designs a new firewall traffic control algorithm called DPTC and provides its design and implementation on the Intel's network processor.
