MICROSTRUCTURE OF A ZrO2-MICA DIPHASE GLASS-CERAMIC
|
Abstract:
For fabricating a ZrO2-mica diphase glass-ceramic, ZrO2 was added to the mica-based glass ceramic, in which a part of K2O is replaced by CaO. The effects of ZrO2 on the crystallinity of mica phase and the microstructure of the machinable glass-ceramics were studied by the methods of XRD, SEM, and EDXS. It is shown that ZrO2 makes mica phases crystallize easily by effecting phase separation of glass. And much t-ZrO2 is precipitated by the stability of CaO. The addition of ZrO2 makes the microstructure of the ZrO2-mica diphase glass ceramic fine. There exist different types of microstructures because of concentration fluctuation of ZrO2.
