Treatment of laboratory organic waste gas by biofilter tower
|
Abstract:
Laboratory simulated mixed exhaust gas was treated by a biofilter tower. The removal efficiency of benzene, toluene, xylene, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate and methane was investigated in system. The results showed that the inlet concentration of total volatile organic compounds(TVOCs)was 124~380 mg/m3,the effluent concentration was reduced to 10~40 mg/m3,and removal rate was more than 85%,when the system was operated continuously and smoothly. The removal mechanism for different pollutants in the waste gas was different. The removal efficiency of hydrophilic pollutants was higher than that of hydrophobic pollutants.Removal effect can be recovered in the second day,if the closing system reset. The results proved that the treatment system was feasible for system idle and overhaul.
