Sterilization for wastewater by non-thermal plasma with pulsed arc electro-hydraulic discharge
|
Abstract:
The discharge time, discharge voltage and polar distance were investigated while treating Escherichia coli from a wastewater treatment plant by non-thermal plasma with pulsed arc electro-hydraulic discharge. The results show that the sterilization rate of Escherichia coli was improved when the discharge time increased. The sterilization rate of Escherichia coli was 99.1% when discharge time was 400.Sterilization rate rose as discharge voltage increasing. When discharge voltage was 3 kV,sterilization rate of Escherichia coli was best,96.7%.The smaller the polar distance, the higher the sterilization rate at the same discharge voltage, and the best polar distance was 0.5 mm.Before and after plasma treatment, the Escherichia coli cell morphology was studied by scanning electron microscopy.According to the sterilization result, the sterilization mechanism was analyzed. It is found that the sterilization is relational to the active particles of the plasma.
