Performance and mechanism of adsorption of tetracycline on activated carbons
|
Abstract:
The adsorption and desorption of tetracycline were investigated employing two kinds of activated carbons as the adsorbents. The impacts of pH and ionic strength on the adsorption, related properties of activated carbons and tetracycline were studied to explore the adsorption mechanism. The results indicated that the adsorption capacity is not impacted by the ionic strength, while increasing pH weakens the adsorption. And fairly strong H-bonding between functional groups of activated carbons and the tetracycline molecules was proved to drive the adsorption.
