Denitrification of groundwater with carbon source sawdust and mineral fillings at low temperature
|
Abstract:
At low temperature, an experiment on biological denitrification of groundwater was conducted with sawdust as carbon source and mineral fillings in an upflow fixed-bed reactor. The removal efficiency of the nitrate nitrogen was analyzed. It was showed that the nitrate can be effectively removed in the reactor with sawdust when mineral filler existed. The nitrate nitrogen removal rate was 95% with the volcanic rock as the reaction medium;to zeolite, the nitrate nitrogen removal rate was 98%. Ammonia and nitrite could be found in the effluent. The concentration of ammonia nitrogen was fluctuated about 1 mg/L and the highest reached to 2.55 mg/L. The concentration of nitrite was changed between 0~0.98 mg/L. The pH of effluent was 7~8 which can meet the requirements of the potable water.
