Fractal characteristics of forming micro-flocs in micro-polluted mining water treatment
|
Abstract:
The fractal theory was used to expound the fractal characteristics of the forming micro-flocs in micro-polluted mines water treatment process. The several affecting factors in the formation process of micro-flocs were studied. The flocculation mechanism was also discussed. Meanwhile, the fractal dimension was used to present the characterization of micro-flocs forming in various affecting factors. The results showed that there was close relation between micro-flocs forming and fractal dimension. During flocculation, the larger the size of fractal dimension, the lower the turbidity of filtered water. It was easy to settle when the micro-flocs were more tight. The fractal characteristics of micro flocs forming were affected by the trace iron and manganese ions. It was useful to improve efficiency of the micro-flocculation deep bed filtration process.
