Effect of air quenched steel slag on properties of glass-ceramic based on blast furnace slag
|
Abstract:
To investigate the effect of steel slag on glass-ceramics, air quenched steel slag and blast furnace slag were used to prepared glass-ceramics by a single sintering process. The major crystalline phase of the samples is gehlenite (Ca2Al2SiO7), and it contains a small amount of akermanite (Ca2MgSi2O7). The optimum sintering temperature increases with increasing steel slag, and the effect of sintering temperature on crystallization of samples is larger than that of air quenched steel slag. The bending strength of samples first increases, then decreases with increasing amount of air quenched steel slag, and the density of samples decreases with increasing amount of air quenched steel slag. The samples present good mechanical properties and chemical resistance, and it provides a promising way for treating pollution and utilization of blast furnace slag and air quenched steel slag.
