Wet modification of brown corundum slag by stearic acid

Abstract:
The brown corundum slag was modified,using stearic acid,by mechanochemical modification in the ethanol media.The effects of the weight ratio of ball to powder,rotational time,rotational speed,dosage of stearic acid and slurry concentration on the lipophilic degree and activation index of the product were studied.According to the results,the proper conditions for the modification of the products are displayed as follows:the mass ratio of ball and powder of 4,the rotational speed of 450 r/min,the milling time of 30 min,the dosage of the stearic acid of 3.5% of the mass of brown corundum slag,slurry concentration of 25%.Under the conditions,the lipophilic degree of the product attained 46.78% and the activation index of brown corundum slag attained 100% after the modification.And it becomes completely hydrophobic under the optimum modification conditions.
