Abstract:

In this study, the self-made electrosorption reactor was adopted to remove fluoride by electricity enhanced adsorption on Al-loaded activated carbon fiber(ACF) from fluoride groundwater.The effects of voltage, electrode gap, alkalinity of groundwater and flow rate on water defluoridation and the regeneration of reactor were investigated, then the experiment of reactor adsorption-regeneration was performed continuously. The results show that positive electricity in electrode with ACF promotes defluoridation. The fluoride were removed effectively at positive polarization of 1.6 V, and standard water volume treated by unit area of ACF could be up to 57.6 L/m2. When distance between the electrode plate was set to 4 mm, the reactor could reach a high performance in defluoridation. The defluoridation effect is better at low pH, water volume treated by unit area of ACF is 50% improved when pH is 5.5. With 3 pairs of electrodes, flow rate of 1.88 m/h, the reactor can reach maximal surface treatment loading of 2 073.6 L/(m2·d). The saturated reactor can be regenerated effectively with Al2(SO4)3 solution and reverse polarization, then well operated continuously.
