Influence of MnO2 on efficiency of sulfur-fixing for CaO in coal powder combustion
|
Abstract:
The effects of calcium-based sulfur catchers on sulfur-fixing were investigated by thermodynamics calculation and experiment methods when n(CaO)/n(S) ratio was equal to 2.0. The results indicate that efficiency of sulfur-fixing for CaO is the maximum. Moreover, the influences of MnO2 on sulfur-fixing of CaO were studied. The results indicate that addition of MnO2 can improve the efficiency of sulfur-fixing for CaO, and efficiency of CaO added with 1% MnO2 is the best. This is because that MnO2 can gradually decompose to Mn2O3 and Mn3O4. The oxides of manganese can catalyze the reaction of sulfur-fixing. Mn3O4 can react with SO2 to form MnSO4 and then improve efficiency of sulfur-fixing for calcium-based sulfur catchers.
