Simulation test of nitrate removal in groundwater with solid carbon source
|
Abstract:
5 kinds of solid materials which had rarely been studied were selected, cotton, loofah, bagasse, degradable lunch boxes, sawdust as additional carbon sources for groundwater nitrate removal. The contrast experiments of denitrification were conducted in the conical flasks, the changes of NO3--N, NO2--N,NH4+-N and pH with different carbon sources were studied, removal rates of NO3--N and total nitrogen were analysed. The results show that, pH is rising in the range of 6.9~8.5 in the denitrification process. Degradable lunch box and loofah compared to other solid carbon sources have higher removal rates of NO3--N and total nitrogen, but total nitrogen removal rate of loofah is significantly lower than degradable lunch box. NO3--N removal rate of degradable lunch box achieves 98.28% and total nitrogen removal rate of degradable lunch box reaches 93.48%. Degradable lunch box can be effective for nitrate removal in groundwater, which is economic and effective optimal solid carbon source to achieve a better result.
