Research on adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics of natural Zhenjiang clinoptilolite for ammonia nitrogen
|
Abstract:
A batch method was used to investigate the kinetics and thermodynamics of ammonia nitrogen on natural clinoptilolite. The results showed that efficiency of adsorption increased with the temperature. Freundlich model agreed very well with experimental data. The pseudo second-order kinetic model provided excellent kinetic data fitting(R2>0.998).The enthalpy change of the adsorption was 18.26 kJ/mol and its entropy change was 0.0632 kJ/kmol. An examination of the thermodynamic parameters showed that the adsorption of ammonia nitrogen ion by clinoptilolite was a process occurring spontaneously. The process was also found to be endothermic. The results indicated that there was a significant potential for the natural Zhenjiang clinoptilolite as an adsorbent material for ammonia nitrogen.
