Study on treatment of wastewater containing pyrimidine by O3/H2O2
|
Abstract:
The effects of different conditions on removal rates of pyrimidine and COD were investigated. The reaction mechanism and kinetics on degradation of pyrimidine by O3/ H2O2 were also studied. The experimental results showed that the removal rates of pyrimidine and COD were up to 86.46% and 74.97%, respectively, under the conditions including pH 11, 70 min of reaction time, 4 g/h of ozone flow, and 50 mmol/L of H2O2. The removal rate of pyrimidine deceased with the increasing of the tert-butyl alcohol concentration, which suggested that the degradation of pyrimidine was mainly due to hydroxyl free radical reaction from O3/H2O2process. The kinetic study showed that the degradation of pyrimidine by O3/H2O2 was in accordance with the first-order kinetic model.
