Drying characteristic and mathematic modeling of alcohol sludge
|
Abstract:
In this study, the infrared drying method was used to dry the alcohol sludge. The effects of drying temperature and the thickness of sludge on evaporation rate, drying rate and volume change rate were investigated. The results demonstrated that drying speed in the constant drying rate stage is only concerned with the drying temperature; critical moisture content increases with the increase of the sludge thickness, but decreases with the increase of the drying temperature; the volume shrinkage rate of sludge in constant rate drying period is high, and there is still minor changes in falling rate drying period. In addition, based on the analysis of the sludge drying characteristics curve, the mathematical model of the sludge drying in constant rate drying and falling rate was successfully established. Comparing the calculated outcome from the established model with the experiment results, there is little difference between them.
