Kinetics of methyl orange degradation heterogeneous Fenton and heterogeneous US-Fenton processes
|
Abstract:
Methyl orange degradation at pH=3 by heterogeneous Fenton and heterogeneous US-Fenton processes was kinetically investigated in this study. This research included kinetic equations and activation energy. The results show that removal efficiency and degradation rate were accelerated by the use of ultrasound irradiation.Comparing the overall rate equations for Methyl orange degradation by heterogeneous Fenton and heterogeneous US-Fenton processes,it was found that the use of ultrasound irradiation can improve rate constant and H2O2 utilization rate.Through analysis revealed that the use of ultrasound irradiation reduced the energy barrier of the reaction. The activation energy for the oxidation of methyl orange in the presence of ultrasound was found to be 25.14 kJ/mol,while in the silent oxidation process was 41.49 kJ/mol.
