Treatment of coke plant wastewater with lignite activated carbon
|
Abstract:
The adsorption performance of lignite activated carbon in coke plant wastewater was studied to provide theoretical basis and technique guidance for wastewater treatment by using lignite activated carbon. The static and dynamic adsorption experiments of lignite activated carbon for phenol in the coke plant wastewater from Henan were operated. The static adsorption experiments showed that the adsorption performance of lignite activated carbon for phenol in the coke plant wastewater was in keeping Freundlich adsorption epuation. When the condition of coke plant wastewater was 150 mL, activated carbon was 10 g, the adsorption time was 1 h and the removal rate of phenol was above 92%. The dynamic adsorption experiments showed that adsorption capacity of activated carbon was about 21.38 mg/g, when the condition of phenol concentration in the effluent water was 3 800 mg/L and the adsorption time was 1.5 h. These results indicate that lignite activated carbon is of good effect on adsorption in treating coke plant wastewater.
