Research on nitrogen removal efficiency and microbial characteristics of ZCS and MZCS process at low temperatures
|
Abstract:
Two sets of zeolite coupled contact-stabilization activated sludge process (ZCS) and modified zeolite coupled contact-stabilization activated sludge(MZCS) were tested to assess nitrogen removal efficiency in winter. The results indicated that the effluent ammonium concentration of ZCS process was 11.65 mg/L,but the total nitrogen concentration was more than 20 mg/L with HRT =3.5 h. Meanwhile, under the same condition, the ammonium concentration in effluent of MZCS process was 5.45 mg/L and removal efficiency of total nitrogen was enhanced 11% for ZCS process. The average value of TN was 16.8 mg/L.It was discovered that the two processes have both microbial characteristics of suspended activated sludge process and biofilm process by using PCR-DGGE and electron microscope scanning technology, and the microbial diversity and richness of the two processes are higher than traditional activated sludge process.
