Preparation and photoactivity of Fe-TiO2 nanocrystalline composites by miniemulsion method
|
Abstract:
Nanocrystalline Fe-TiO_2 composites were prepared by the miniemulsion method. The obtained photocatalysts were characterized by thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis(TG-DTA),x-ray diffraction (XRD),scan electronic microphotograph (SEM) and diffuse reflection spectrum(DRS).Photoactivities of FeTiO_2,TiO_2 and P25 were evaluated by degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation. The results show that the photoactivity of Fe-TiO_2 is more than that of P25.This is attributed to the fact that the addition of Fe not only retains crystalline growth, improves thermostabilities and surface areas of Fe-TiO_2,but also shifts the excited wavelength of TiO_2 to visible light regions, produces the high content of Ti~(3+) ions and decreases recombination ratio of photo-generated current carrier.
