Abstract:

Ultrasonic disintegration of waste activated sludge is a new technology to accelerate anaerobic digest of waste activated sludge. Not only ultrasonic parameter but also characteristics of waste activated sludge and experimental conditions are important parameters to affect the disintegration of waste activated sludge. In order to assess the effects of characteristics of waste activated sludge and experimental conditions on ultrasonic disintegration of waste activated sludge, experiments with difference characteristics of waste activated sludge are carried out and analyzed with the increase of soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD+) and disintegration degree of waste activated sludge (DDSCOD). It is concluded that the parameters of initial temperature, pH and concentration are contributive to disintegrate waste activated sludge. Simultaneously, experiments with stirring or blowing are completed. It is confirmed that intermittently stirring and blowing can enhance waste activated sludge disintegration.
