Study on leaching properties and immobilization of municipal solid waste incineration fly ash
|
Abstract:
Municipal solid waste incineration(MSWI) fly ash contains many heavy metals and dioxins,so it is regarded as hazardous waste and should be stabilized before disposal.Fly ash samples have been obtained from a incineration power plant in Dongguan City of Guangdong Province, which is the first solid waste power plant with the rotary kiln process developed by itself in China. The chemical compositions and crystal components of fly ash samples were analyzed. The leaching properties of MSWI fly ash were studied. The effect of immobilization of cement on MSWI fly ash was investigated, and compared with the effect of melting and glass solidification. The results show that the leaching toxicity of Cd in MSWI fly ash is higher than the standard, and increases with the decreases of the pH of leachate. The effect of immobilization of cement on MSWI fly ash gets better with the increase of the age.The effect of melting and solidification is better than immobilization of cement, but the cost of melting method needs to be reduced.
