Experimental study on removal of ammonia nitrogen in secondary effluent by clinoptilolite
|
Abstract:
The performances of clinoptilolite for removing ammonia nitrogen in secondary effluent were studied through batch experiments. The results indicate that ammonia nitrogen removal rate can be improved by adding more zeolite, while the adsorption capacity of zeolite reduces. Zeolite has the characteristic of fast adsorption and slow balance to ammonia nitrogen. Powdered zeolite has higher effect than granulated zeolite on the removal of ammonia nitrogen. Zeolite of smaller grain has higher exchange capacity and better treatment effect. pH has significant effect on ammonia nitrogen removal rate and removal rate is highest at 6 of pH. Modification by NaCl and NaOH can improve the performances of zeolite for removing ammonia nitrogen, but HCl has bad modification effect.
