Study on adsorption of pesticides from water by powdered activated carbon
|
Abstract:
The adsorption process and adsorption law of 2,4-D, carbofuran, carbaryl and atrazine by PAC and the effect of PAC dosage and water quality on adsorption capacity of PAC were studied. The results showed that the four pesticides could be adsorbed effectively by PAC. The adsorption law obeyed both Freundlich adsorption isotherm and Langmuir adsorption isotherm. In deionized water, the removal rate got to above 80% when adsorption time was 30 min. The removal rate rose and the adsorption capacity of PAC dropped with the increase of PAC dosage. The adsorption isotherm of PAC could be different in different water qualities. Therefore, in the emergency treatment, the adsorption isotherm in the corresponding water should be determined first and then PAC dosage is calculated.
