Progress of the studies on occurrence and fate of new emerging micro-pollutants-PPCPs in municipal wastewaters
城市污水中有关新型微污染物PPCPs归趋研究的进展

Pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) are newly identified micro-pollutants in the environment in the recent decade. Their environmental risk is the the major concern till now. Some recent surveys showed that a variety of PPCPs with different concentrations existed in the effluent of municipal wastewater treatment plants (MWTPs), which is one of important ways for PPCPs entering into the environment. This paper reviews the studies on the occurrence and fate of PPCPs in the municipal wastewater in considering the analytical techniques for PPCPs in the municipal wastewater, the occurrence and behavior of PPCPs in MWTPs and the removal method for PPCPs. Besides, the current status of studies on PPCPs in China is introduced. Suggestions to future study directions on PPCPs in China, especially those in municipal wastewater, are highlighted in order to attract more attention to PPCPs in municipal wastewater and further the related investigations.
