Preparation of bentonite coated chitosan and its adsorptive properties

A new type treating agent bentonite coated chitosan was prepared and the absorption of acid scarlet in dyeing wastewater on modified bentonite were investigated.The optimal preparation conditions were obtained.The removal rate of chromacity is 97% under the conditions of 30 g/L chitosan 0.7, ratio of bentonite mass to chitosan volume, 80 min soaking time with 15 min heating time. In addition, bentonite coated chitosan was analyzed by specific surface area, SEM and XRD. Results showed that dispersed state of bentonite in the water was changed by chitosan, improving its adsorptive capability and ionic exchange ability.
