Application of grassed swales in urban non-point source pollution control
|
Abstract:
Urban non point source pollution control from stormwater runoff has been given significant attentions. Practices were developed and implemented to control and attenuate runoff pollution loads into receiving waters. Grassed swales are one of a number of landscape-and grading-related BMPs that primarily use bilfiltration and limited infiltration to remove pollutants. Its particular introduction on concept, design method, design criteria, maintenance and design examples was given. When properly incorporated into an overall site design, grassed swales can be applied as substitute of conventional pipe work.
