Removal efficiency of integrated constructed wetlands for treating polluted river water
|
Abstract:
Two kinds of integrated constructed wetlands were used for the treatment of polluted river water in Kunming city. The results showed that the two integrated constructed wetland systems had good purification efficiencies for polluted urban river water, the monthly average removal rates of TN, TP, COD and SS were more than 50%, 85%, 85% and 80%, respectively. The two integrated constructed wetland systems could suffer high hydraulic loading rate shock, and seasonal variation of climate in Kunming city had no significant influence on the effluent quality of the two integrated constructed wetlands. The performance of vertical up-flow with vertical up-flow constructed wetlands was better than that of vertical up-flow with horizontal flow constructed wetlands. Heavy rainfall could affect the effluent quality.
