Measurement and estimation of volatile chlorine content and heat value of medical waste incineration flue gas
|
Abstract:
Through the measurement of average emission rate of HCl under certain condition at a medical waste disposal center in Shanghai, the volatile chlorine content during burning of medical wastes was determined as between 2.33%(w/w) and 2.64%(w/w). By measuring the concentration of HCl in a smaller sample time period(2 min),it was found that intermittent feeding resulted in nearly 4 times concentration fluctuations of HCl. The heat value of the medical waste was estimated as 21.8 MJ/kg by heat balance. The results could provide key data for the medical waste incineration process design.
