Calculation of Factor g in Measurement of Parameters of IRFPA Detectors

The formular for calculating the factor g in the measurement of the performance parameters of an Infrared Focal Plane Array(IRFPA)detector is presented and the formulas for calculating the factors g of a photon detector and a thermal detector in the case of the ideal relative spectral response are analyzed and deduced when these detectors are limited by their window materials.The calculated factor g of the photon detector in the case of the ideal relative spectral response is illustrated and is compared with the calculated one of it in the case of the real relative spectral response.The typical deviation between them is less than 5%.Therefore,the parameters such as peak detectivity etc.can be calculated by using the factor g in the case of the ideal relative spectral response instead of the one in the case of the real relative spectral response.This method is relatively simple and quick and needs not measure the real relative spectral response.
