A Median Filter Designed with FPGA

Abstract:
In IR tracking system, image preprocessing must run at a special high-speed. The article present a median filter designed with Filed Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). Firstly, The article discusses FPGA's characteristics and advantage over DSP or discrete components. Secondly, the structure of XC2V1000, which is a kind of Xilinx's FPGA, is given. Lastly, the theoretical analysis of the median filter and the recourse used in FPGA are presented. The results prove that the design of the median filter is successful. And a significant result of running speed is achieved.
