The environmental impact analysis of coastal exploitations in Jinzhou Bay
|
Abstract:
For appropriate guidance of coastal exploitations in Jinzhou Bay, we analyzed the environmental impact of coastal exploitations of the reclamation project and coastal industry. Marine environmental data of Jinzhou Bay collected between 2004 and 2008 were used to evaluate seawater quality. The results indicate that from 2000 to 2009, due to the reclamation activities, the area of Jinzhou Bay decreased nearly 2 200 hectares, and natural coastline decreased about 2.2km. Pollutants discharged from industries around the coast resulted in marine environment deterioration. The main pollutants in Jinzhou Bay were COD and oil; and the inorganic pollutants were cadmium, lead, and arsenic.
