First report of a species of Pedinellales, Pseudopedinella pyriforme from China Sea
|
Abstract:
A Strain Pseudopedinella pyriforme was isolated from coast of Qingdao and its microanatomy was studied by light microscope and electronic microscope. The cells are radially symmetrical and possess six chloroplasts, each with a bulging pyrenoid that is connected with the nucleus. The mitochondrial cristae are tubular. Cells possess one emergent flagellum carrying a wing. A trailing stalk is present at the posterior end of cells and connected to the vacuole system. This is the first species of Pedinellales reported in China. The taxonomic status and characteristics of Pseudopedinella are also discussed.
