The graph and integration Method usually are used to treat data about 210Pb dating today. There is a surface mixing layer in the surface of marine sediment. A strict mathematical deduction is conducted concerning how to use the two methods under the existence of the surface mixing layer in this Article, limitations of the methods is shown here. The author advances a progressive approach, which can avoid some defects of aforementioned two methods and especially is suitable for areas where the surface mixing layer is thick and the sediment rate is slow.
